THE FLUORESCENT NIGHT – with Yann Toma
European Museum Night 2013
18 May 2013 7pm to Midnight
The 2013 European Museum Night in Tours will be fluorescent.
The CCC, the Fine Art Museum and the Jeu de Paume beyond the walls of the Château are extending the initiative carried out in 2010 and 2012 to colour the night, in collaboration with an artist. This year the ‘Musée du Compagnonnage’ (Trade Guilds) and the Natural History Museum are linked with this event.
Following “La Nuit Bleue” (Blue Night) by Alexandre Polasek-Bourgougnon and the light-filled walk through the town, and “La Nuit Mauve” (The Purple Night) by Pierre Ardouvin an his coloured umbrellas, the CCC has invited artist Yann Toma, the Chairman of Ouest-Lumièreto share his work with the inhabitants of Tours for the night of Saturday 18 May 2013.
Yann Toma has devised the production of a fluorescent fan to be produced and branded by his artistic company OUEST-LUMIÈRE, the first fictional company to produce and distribute electricity. Night time visitors will be able to sport this nocturnal finery which will provide them with artistic energy all night long.
PROGRAMME FOR “LA NUIT FLUORESCENTE” :
7pm to midnight
The CCC, the Jeu de Paume beyond the walls of the Château and the Museums of Tours are providing visitors with a fluorescent fan by Yann Toma (limited by the number of available fans). The night time visitors can also exchange their images and experiences of LA NUIT FLUORESCENTE at Tours live via Facebook and Twitter.
The Chairman for Life of Ouest-Lumière invites the inhabitants of Tours to join him for a mutual sharing of artistic energy which will reveal the fluorescence of the night. He will make use of the event to realize a new photographic piece.
The meeting place for the work will remain a secret until Saturday 18 May, and will be sent to the cultural partners in the course of the night, and via the Facebook and Twitter pages of the CCC, the Jeu de Paume and the Museums of Tours.
